Uzbekistan’s shining star is a complete player: strong computationally with a considerable knowledge base and steady nerves result in one of the more exciting players around. While he may be considered a bit of an outsider in the company of the Grand Prix participants, he is a proven competitor with several top level victories to his name, including several knockout events – most notably the 2004 FIDE World Championship.
