The lone American representative is one of the more intriguing players in the elite today. He has in effect lived two chess lives: the first as a tenacious and determined challenger for the World title in the mid 90s, and then after more or less a decade away from top level competitive chess, remerging a few years ago to compete again at the highest level. A great defender and fighter over the board, Kamsky will be undoubtedly bringing his competitive spirit with him to Armenia.
